Why some intelligence agencies are spying on the vaccine development against COVID-19?


The fact is that the same methodology, which is used to create a vaccine against the COVID-19 van use to make vaccines against every other virus. And this kind of technology is making it possible to create a new type of biological weapons. If some nation would want to weaponize the virus, the problem is how to make a vaccine or otherways protect their population against that kind of virus. 

The Novichok-episode told that chemical weapons are still under development even the treaty for limiting them is ratified in many countries. Another weapon of mass destruction like weaponized micro-organisms is still an effective weapon even they are prohibited. Production of the nerve agents and some other chemicals is basing the cell cultures. Even the chemical weapons are not used in large-scale military operations those weapons are effective also in the hands of assassins. 

So some intelligence or "special operation teams" might use poisons in their operations. And poisons are traditional weapons with noble people and mafia families. This means that the development of poisons continues even today.  And also developing the new type of biological weapons that are non-lethal but cause a decrease in activity might continue. Those biological weapons are like angina. They don't kill, but they are causing very high fewer. So that means that those weapons are hard to detect because they are similar to natural organisms. Because those bacteria and viruses don't kill, they can also use in civil disorder. 

Another thing is that by making the industrial espionage operation, the hanky-panky medical factories can make cheaper copies of vaccines, and share them with potential allies. The reason for spying on that kind of vaccine production might be to copy those methods for own medical industry.
