In the center of the galaxy, time is moving slower.
The image above this text portraits the repair of the space ship near the black hole. And it is made by David A. Hardy. The thing is that the black hole dilates time near it, and that thing would give extra time for the crew to making the repairments. But the time dilation would cause that the craft is traveling to the future.
The supermassive black hole in the center of the galaxy causes time dilation. This means that time is moving slower in the center of the galaxy than outside of the galaxy. But the thing is that we cannot observe that time dilation if we are in the middle of that phenomenon.
So we can see that time is moving slower only if we are outside of the effect of time dilation. The major question is, what the extreme version of time dilation would look like if we could observe that phenomenon near it. Have you ever read the book named "Dragon's egg". That book is telling the story about the civilization that lives on the neutron star. And the key element of that book is the time dilation.
The time dilation is looking like that. The civilization is living on that neutron star. Would create its technology from the stone age to spaceflights in front of the human eyes. That thing is one of the greatest ideas in the books, and the thing is that if some civilization would live near the black hole, those creatures would have time to create their technology in a very short time if that thing is observed outside the area of time dilation.
So that thing where the massive object is stretching time is fascinating. And the thing is that if we would stand on that object, what dilates time very much, that time what seems being very long in our eyes would look to take only seconds if somebody is observing us from the outside the gravity field.
In theory, if we would live in the future and we would have suitable technology we would easily travel to the world of tomorrow simply landing to the surface of a neutron star. And if we would spend a couple of hours on that object, the time would travel even years or centuries outside the gravity field of a neutron star. Landing on that object would be impossible because the neutron star is rotating very high speed. And gravity is extremely high, which means it would crush the craft. But maybe we would use that phenomenon in the future.
