An electric jet engine can be the next revolution for aircraft.

The electric jet engine means the engine, which will create thrust by using electric arc, and that thing doesn't require the fuel at all. Sometimes also plasma engines are mentioned as electric engines.  In some models, the plasma is formed at the front of the engine, and then the magnetic field will pull it backward. 

But the term "electric jet engine" means an engine, which uses only electricity to make thrust. So the systems can use plasma, but they can also be more traditional-looking engines, which are using electric arcs in the combustion chamber for creating the pressure, which is normally created by using the burning fuel. 

Or the thrust of the engine can increase by injecting water or hydrogen in the combustion chamber, which allows the aircraft, what uses this kind of system fly to the orbital trajectory. In that case, the engine compressor will be closed by using a hatch, and the hydrogen will inject into the combustion chamber. 

The electric jet engine needs electricity to create the electric arc, and sometimes people think that this thing requires a nuclear reactor. But there is a possibility that this kind of aircraft can charge its battery wirelessly by using powerful radio waves. 

The high-voltage chemical batteries can be the high-voltage capacitors, which are cooled to a temperature that is quite near the zero kelvin degrees. The electric jet engine can be the system, what is used in the next generation small-size spacecraft, what is diving to the atmospheres of the giant planets and their moons. But those engines can also allow that the aircraft or drone can fly even weeks if the electric supply is confirmed. 

The electric storage capacity of that kind of aircraft can increase by installing wind generators and solar panels on the wings and in the body of the craft, and that thing can improve the operational range. The aircraft cannot be a perpetual motion machine, but if it will rise to the low Earth orbiter, the batteries of that system can load by using solar panels, and that thing gives those engines a very high capacity. 

Also when the craft will dive into the atmosphere it can load the batteries by using windmills, and that thing would make the electric jet engines more powerful and multipurpose tools than any engine before. Maybe this system is not ready yet, but it can be the engine of tomorrow.
