When somebody says, that the person has painted the painting like icon in let's say about 200 years, that doesn't mean this person has lived 200 years. That means that at the beginning of this process was one painting or drawing, what came in the mind of that person, who has started the process. And after that, the successors of that person have continued the developing of those images or paintings and they are brought the new thing in those paintings, what is like some chain letters from the past.
The thing in those paintings is that they are like the bloodlines, which would become brighter and brighter, and in the painting would forming new details, and some elder details would be removed or renew by new things. And this makes that kind of paintings interesting. Some scholars have introduced the idea, that by following those bloodlines or developing lines, would there be possible to find the paintings, where were the portrayed the real face of the persons like Jesus Christ or some other holy man, and this thing would make the work with religious art very fascinating. The picture above the text is the painting of King Charles IV and the biography of that man you can read from the link below.

The thing in the hunting of the eldest religious paintings is difficult because of the religious conflicts in Europe in the 17th century and wars between Christians and Muslims couple of hundred years earlier as well as conflicts between Eastern and Western church at the end of the era of the Roman empire have caused the situation, that some of the eldest religious paintings have been destroyed. And this is the thing, what makes those icons and religious paintings interesting.
The thing is that, at the beginning of the developing process, would some monk or other person see something in the dream, what that person paints. Then the other will continue to draw next versions of that drawing, but because the makers of those paintings are humans, and they use their imagination. This makes impossible to calculate the pixels back from those paintings, and the scholars must follow the bloodline to the beginning to see the original icon or painting, what can be totally different than the image, what is seen on the wall.
