Those hypothetical aliens might be elder civilization
Here I will introduce two versions of the reason, why aliens might have greater knowledge than we have. One thing is that those aliens might be elder civilization, and that thing would cause that they might have greater knowledge than we have.
Or in fact, those hypothetical spacemen might have greater knowledge only about the things like interstellar traveling, but the knowledge might be very limited. That means those aliens would have very great knowledge about a very limited sector of technology and research.
