How to aim missile to target without GPS over the wall
The development of new tanks is the race between improved defense and improved ammunition. The first version of active armor was that the tank was covered by explosive plates that would detonate the antitank shell too early before it reaches the armor.
But the new type of active protection system is more effective than those explosive plates. The active protection systems like "Trophy"(1), which is using the conventional rounds that are shot at incoming missiles have created the need to create improved missiles against tanks. There is probably microwave or laser-based solutions, what mission is to detonate the missile before it reaches the tank.
The new lightweight missiles like Rafael Spike can destroy tanks over 5 kilometers. The thing that this kind of system requires is the exact location of the target. The location of the target can get by using various recon systems. But then the missile must fly to them. The easiest way to determine the trajectory of that missile is to use GPS, but that kind of system can jam quite easily. Another way is to use an inertial navigation system, where the missile will get the location of the target, and then it would fly to it.
During the flight, the image recognition system is searching the target, and when it sees the tank or some other target, the missile will turn against it. So the system is a hybrid of the inertia (gyroscope) and IIR (Imaging Infra-Red, which means an optical system that uses the visible light and thermal camera combination. Another way is to use the quadcopters, which can deliver to an area by using various systems. The quadcopter will send the location signal to the missile.
And at the beginning of the trajectory, the missile would aim at the quadcopter. Which points to the target by using a laser designator. This kind of system can use when missiles must fly over the barrier. In this kind of scenario, the shooter cannot get straight visual contact with the target, and the aiming of the ammunition must be done by using the "unstraight" methodology.
