What is behind the sudden need to close Twitter?

 



Twitter is one of the media that are making it possible. Political opposition in closed nations can release their opinions and report about the political and human rights in countries where those people are living. And those things do not please nations like Qatar. 

Sometimes people are noticed that Qatar is one of the nations that are buying acceptance in the world by using big money. Football games are one of the most popular things in media. And things like 6000 building site accidents are causing problems for Qatar and FIFA. That is getting very big money from those games. 

Social media are bringing these kinds of things like bad human right condition in Qatar into public knowledge. I don't know how well-known that thing was before social media. Things like heads of media houses and editors are very good subjects for bribery. And that causes the question of how many editors got free tickets to some world championships for keeping their mouths shut about the human-right conditions. 

The business environment is entirety. And one of the most important and visible parts of that thing is the political environment where the company operates. If some western companies support radical Islam along with the violent government that causes problems. 

Those things are not good for the brand FIFA. And the companies that are marketing their products in those games. Arabia is one of the most complicated marketing areas in the world. There is lots of money, and people can buy products. But the political and religious aspects are problematic. 

Human rights are causing problems in Europe, where people don't tolerate things like a dictatorship. If people see that riot police will violate opposition or people who talk against the government are just dying that is bad for the company's public image in their homeland. 

FIFA is an organization that gets very big profits from those football games. And that means Twitter is against the benefit of Qatar and FIFA. FIFA offers Qatar and that kind of nation a very good place to make money. And FIFA offers a forum, where Qatar's leaders can make their image campaigns. The new business relationship between Qatar and FIFA is one of the examples of how greedy people can be. 

The players are not allowed to introduce political opinions. And also things like opinions to defend sexual- and other minorities are strictly prohibited. And the purpose of those orders is to please the people who are paying money for those people. 

But there is one big risk in Twitter. There is a possibility that somebody will open a Twitter account in the name of the FIFA leaders. 

And if there is some kind of opinion. That is not allowed in Qatar. It can make those Qatarians very sad. If a person, who is fully lubricated would not accept the conditions of the cooperation that can cause very big problems.
