The Ukrainian conflict brought the horrors of war front of people's eyes. And one of the things, that tells if the person has been in a conflict area is PTSD. PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder), or "hidden memories", are forming because of traumatic stress. Or suddenly starting traumatic stress like in cases where a grenade explodes near the person.
PTSD is a disease where the person will not remember a thing about a stressful situation. Things like being in the combat zone. Or some other suddenly starting violent stress is causing PTSD. PTSD can form in accidents and normal street violence.
The normal PTSD case is this. The victim will suddenly face extremely bad violent situations like car accidents or powerful and violent attacks. That thing causes a situation, where the brain links memory to the wrong place, and it will not remember what happened. Things like stress hormones and other things like headaches, and simultaneously repeating nightmares are the marks that a person has some kind of PTSD.
PTSD uncovers that person has faced traumatic stress sometimes. Things like images of similar things like combat helicopters in the cases where the soldier has PTSD cause a very strong neural reaction. Same way. If the person sees a similar car that caused an accident, the neural reaction uncovers the PTSD or attempts to hide the traumatic situation.
The symptoms and the reactions in the brain are always similar. By collecting data from official PTSD cases. Researchers can make a matrix that they can use in the cases where they want to compile reactions. And that thing makes it possible to uncover hidden stress. There is, of course, the possibility that the person plays PTSD and just doesn't want to tell about the stressful situation.
All PTSD cases are not caused because of being in the war zone. And the thing that forms this very interesting condition is the surprisingly fast starting stressful situation. Researchers used PTSD to research in the "Project Blue Book". In that research, they tried to find out was somebody tried to hide the UFO cases. The results of that study are classified because those medical files were confidential.
Things like CT, MEG and PET scanners are making brain research more effective than ever before. Those scanners can also make it possible to analyze the EEG and decode the signals that are traveling in the brain. That information can make it someday possible that researchers can project people's memories on the computer screen.
