"Collective discrimination refers to the discriminatory actions or attitudes of a group or society towards a particular group of people. This type of discrimination can be based on any characteristic that is used to distinguish one group from another, such as race, ethnicity, religion, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, or disability. Collective discrimination can take many forms, including prejudice, stereotypes, and institutionalized forms of discrimination such as laws or policies that disadvantage or discriminate against certain groups." (ScitechDaily.com/New Study Uncovers Surprising Connection Between Evolution and Discrimination)
Why do we discriminate against people who are different than us? The origin of discrimination is evolution. During human evolution, humans lived in groups. The group was the thing that protected individuals. And in every certain group were individual routines. Those routines show that an individual was a member of the group.
In that kind of group dynamics, there were two main groups "we" and "others". And each group protected itself against outsiders. If some outsider came to the group, that thing could be a catastrophe. And originally, the purpose of discrimination is in survivability.
Discrimination is one of the saddest things in human nature. When a new worker comes to the workplace, sometimes that causes a situation where the entire workplace turns back against that person. Same way. When a new student or pupil comes to school that can cause the need to show that other people in the class or group are "old members". Sometimes that thing causes a situation. That team's new member must change workplace because other people are closing that new actor away from society. And that thing causes very high costs for the company.
The idea of discrimination is that the "new people" or "different kinds of people" are closed away from society. The reason for discrimination is that person is different. The use of glasses is sometimes enough, that person has closed away from social life.
Racism is one version of discrimination. Racism normally means racial separation. But there is also age racism and other kinds of things like homophobia. A normal excuse for those things is that the majority must not respect the minority. A normal excuse in that situation is that because the majority makes rules they must not listen to others than themselves opinions.
Or some representatives of the majority cannot tolerate something, that is normal for the minority. In that case, there is always a religious or similar excuse for those things. The excuse in those situations is that religion is so dear to those people. They just cannot accept anything that doesn't support their own opinions.
Every animal that lives in groups discriminates against outsiders. The ants are killing other ants that are coming to their nest. In that case, the purpose of discrimination is to protect the group. Wolfpack is discriminating against other groups. And that is their intuitional behavior. That is the thing that supports ants and wolves.
Discrimination can be:
A) Collective.
Collective discrimination means that some group is closed out from society. The regular name for collective discrimination is racism. The target for collective discrimination can be the ethnic minority. But it can be some sexual minority, or just some religious or some other group like younger workers. Or workers who are working in different roles than the major group of workers.
B) Individual.
Individual discrimination means that individual persons are closed out from society. The reason for that is that the person is just different. Things like the use of glasses or speech defects or different ages can cause a situation, where the person is closed away from society.
But humans are not wolves or ants. We must not follow our intuition.
We have brains. And the willingness to fight against our intuition. The reason why people like Putin get support. That they are creating a model, that people who support them get a place in heaven.
In that social model people who are using uniforms are the master group. The purpose of the uniform is to make the group homogenous. And this makes the "we" spirit stronger. And other people who are not using uniforms are outsiders. There are two societies in that kind of model. Regular people who are going to regular work.
Uninformed people who are forming the "inner circle" that is a little bit "better" than others. And of course, in this model is multiple sub-circles. That is leading to lower levels. The idea of leadership is always simple. When the person is the leader of the group, that allows that leader to order henchmen to go to rain for work. And that means leadership guarantees easier life than being a henchman.
Evolution created discrimination to protect groups against outsiders. The reason, why great leaders sometimes incite people to discriminate against others is that they are in the middle of the group. Some leaders of the groups are nothing without their groups. Or what is the leader of the wolfpack without its pack? The group is everything that some leaders have.
